On Monday, 8/20, we left Chicago for Charleston, SC.
We rented a car and drove 2 hours to HIlton Head Island. Our dear friend Sarah asked her Dad to lend us his vacation house, which he SO generously did. This house was beautiful! The kids loved the pool & we loved walking across the street to the beach. It just so happened that my Uncle Gene, Aunt Maureen & 2 of their girls were staying a short drive away. It was so great to spend time with them. We love you guys!! The first night, Maggie & Charlie watched our kids so we could go to dinner with G&M. Man, that island is hard to get around in the dark. It's SOOOOO dark and all of the signs are brown. After finding a few closed restaurants, we ended up at an excellent place with delicious seafood. We were all blown away. When we got home, Matt and I waited for my Dad & our friend Therese to arrive. They had driven all day from Chicago and were also directionally challenged in the dark. They made it though & the next day was filled with more swimming & exploring.
